Quotes of the Day

I think Justin means he would use the ceiling fan as a merry go round! ;)

Leoni Carlson

Yes. I would grab on and go for a ride. :)

Justin Regier

WOW! me too.
I guess I am getting ancient for having a need to be explained.

Blonde moments happen to the best of us. ;)

"All my clocks changed themselves for daylight savings time. I didn't have to do a thing. I, for one, welcome our robot overlords." -Adam Sessler

Here's an interesting quote I heard the other day;

"Cinderella never intended to meet Prince Charming; she just wanted to go to the ball."

I guess thats a very feminist view on the story! Or does it mean Cinderella really wasn't as deep a thinker as we all supposed her to be? I thought it was worth a giggle either way.

She just wanted to get away from those Ugly sisters, I reckon! She was young and she wanted to dance. He chased her - so maybe it was an offer she couldn't refuse - he was a Prince after all.

Leoni...I did reply to this last Cinderella quote, however, it must have been inadvertently deleted, or my computer was playing tricks on me at that time, or I WAS HAVING A SENIOR MOMENT!
So here I go again.
Cinderella was a romantic and loved to dance of course. It was a bonus for her that she met Prince Charming!

I actually wrote a short story for my writing class, in which I compared myself to Cinderella.
I will post it here in 'New Writing' if that is okay, even though it isn't really 'New.'

I feel sure many of us can compare ourselves to certain characters in the fairy tales.
It would be interesting to hear of them too.

Yes your right! Might be a good discussion topic. :) Although I'd have a hard time picking one!
Thanks for replying Lucy :) and I really enjoyed your Cinderella short story! :D

Leoni...my pleasure.

"The harder I work, the luckier I get".

I'm not sure who came up with that one but I think it's good.

Harley Bailey

12th April 2012

Yes it is. I like it.

Davide Castel

I know a similar one; "I only work hard, because I'm lazy."
Work hard so you can have more time to do absolutely nothing!! I've always loved that one, so contradictory in many ways, and yet it makes a certain sense.

Leoni Carlson

Very funny Leoni.
And of course, there's that old saying,
'All work and no play, makes Johnny a dull boy.'

Davide Castel

13th April 2012

Oh yes I know that one! I've always wondered why Johnny though... hmmm.

It is like...'Jack/Jill of all trades and master of none.'
Or else there is, 'Bob's your Uncle/Fanny's your aunt.'
So where do those names come from?

However, none of these are really original.

Davide Castel

I am graduating this year.. so for my grad blurb I used this quote

"Experience is simply the name we give our mistakes" - Oscar Wilde

Kaitlyne Beaudin

18th April 2012

I like this one Kaitlyn. It sounds like a very wise saying, for your Graduation.

Two quotes I have put on my first book, 'White Blanket-Red Snow' (novelette I suppose) after 7 years in the back-burner and which is now ready for printing, is;

'Measure your wealth by the things you have that no-one could buy at any price.' (in front) and
'Take your hat off to the past, but your Coat off for the future.' (at the back)

I act on impulse, so as they seemed to suit this story, (I found these two quotes on my desk calendars for the 20th April, which coincidentally, happens to be the day I completed my book) so felt they were appropriate to use, actually as an afterthought!! hmmmmm.
Was I right to do this I wonder?

Reach for the sky and you may fall its true
but stay grounded and watch life bypass you

This kinda just came to me one day and i have stuck by it ever since

Toni Clark

That is a really good one Toni. I like it.

"We are all travelers in the wilderness of this world and the best that we find in our travels is an honest friend." Robert Louis Stevenson

Someone gave me a small plaque with this saying on it after a long ago horse had to be put down, in 1981. It hung in the tackroom for years and on a wall in my house for at least the past 8 years. It has always meant a lot to me.
Lucy, the quotes sound just fine, for your book! I love that last one!
Toni, I like yours, it is original? Those are very wise words.
Kaitlyne, congratulations on your graduation!

Warren Gates

10th May 2012

i think it is original i haven't heard anyone else say it so yea i guess it is :D

Toni Clark

11th May 2012

Warren...I like that quote. No wonder you keep it with you.
Some quotes are really worth remembering.
At the end of the day, it doesn't really matter whether it is original or not as long as that message helps someone especially when they need it the most.

Davide Castel

A quote that really made my day.

“Too many people are thinking the grass is greener on the other side of the fence, when they ought to just water the grass they are standing on.” – Amar Dave

Robert Harris

17th July 2012

Yep...I agree.
In other words, be grateful for what you have. It may not be better on the other side after all.

Davide Castel

I have a couple. This first has become my Motto and the second I used to say to my kids when they were little.

"Learn to Live and Live to Learn, because the more we know, the more we grow and the more we share the more we care." (you may see this in a few pieces of my writing)

For my children:
"I love you to the moon and stars and back again"

Cindy Beitinger

19th July 2012

I really love those quotes Cindy.
I have heard the expression, 'I love you to the sky and back'.
We can all learn something special from these quotes.

Davide Castel

24th July 2012

Robert, so true, we really have to learn to accept what we already have , and take care of it!!
Cindy, you and Lucy are very uplifting type people and good to have in this world.

Warren Gates

29th July 2012

Thank you Warren. We have choice to be positive or we can succumb to life's little problems. I think if we choose to believe in the good, we see more of the good. You are a gem Warren!

When running through a cemetery, don't stop to talk to strange women. - The Inner Sanctum

Liz Reynolds

29th July 2012

You are funny Liz!

Warren...I agree what Cindy said, we all do have a choice.
I know of people whose world is always full of woe.
There is a saying and it goes something like this,

'At 30 your face shows what you want to be. By 50, your face shows what you have become!'
