Help needed

I am puzzled by the italics and bold features. I've not been able to figure out how to get either. Someone please help me.

I have just discovered the italics. I assume the Bold is the same.
When you write a new piece, there is a section on the right that says, ITALICS and BOLD. You click that and it give your writing some funny squiggles, but when you SAVE, you will notice that your final copy will have it. Give it a try. I found mine by trial and error.

Thanks, Lucy. I usually write my stuff in Microsoft Word then copy and paste it to writing area. Can you still do the italics that way?

I've had a bit of trouble doing that Don. You need to do the italics only when it is posted. I have tried the cut and paste, some writings work and some don't. The computer I am using often goes on strike and moves verrry slowly. As I said, trial and error. That's always the best way to learn. Good luck.

Thank you, Lucy. I'll try it your way.

Thanks, Guys. By accident stumbled on your discussion, I was puzzled by this too.

Hi guys. The way Lucy described it, by doing the italics and bold after you post is the only way I've been able to do it. Copy and paste's from both Microsoft and Open Office do not survive the transfer here. If you rely on italics like I do, it's a minor hassle. :-(

i could be wrong but I thin it's in HTML format where you copy and paste. I know very little about writing html but i have done it before. tells the program that the following sentence needs to be in italics and ending it with tells it to stop itlaics. the same for bold which is There are many other commands like underlining, font size, etc. Harley could explain it way betting than I could b/c i am below novice when it comes to that stuff

< i > is the command for Italics and to stop it is < / i > with out the spaces.

and you can do stuff like this... I guess i remember some stuff

Wow. I tried it like Jessica said to do it. It works!!! Thanks Jessica. Now I can copy and paste, then click edit, insert the html code where I want the italics and viola! It'll do it. What is the code for BOLD ????

Don Yarber

< b > then you place your text and then < /b > without spaces. but when you copy and paste your writing from word into the 'new writings' you can just highlight what you want bold or italic and it will insert the code for you

there are a bunch of other commands you can just look up online. I just hope people don't start posting stories like this because that would be obnoxious...

So I just highlight what I want to be in italics before I copy and paste? How does it know the difference between bold and italic? Do I insert the code at that time??

Once you copy and paste your story to ScribeSlice you can then go in and highlight what you want and then click the italics or bold button the on right hand side and it will insert the code around the highlighted item. Then after you add your writing the bold and italics will appear.

Jessica's advice is spot on. In the writing's it will only accept < b > and < i > tags. < b > is for bold and < i > is for italics (without the spaces). Although you can also just select some text and press the bold or italics button for it to insert the proper tags for you.

Unfortunately bold and italics aren't included when copying from word programs, which is why the buttons were setup to be able to do it.

OK. I do this BEFORE I publish? Cause after I publish there is no option for bold or italic. When I highlight I get the "comment" menu.

Don Yarber

After you publish you can also press the "Edit" button on the side which has bold and italics in there as well.
