Where are the notifications?

The notifications have disappeared. Did something change while I have been busy and not paying attention?

Warren Gates

1st July 2012

Warren, there has been a shortage of them lately. A while ago there was a discussion that many were getting too busy in their own lives to have time to post.

I tried to contact Harley but even he is not responding.

Maybe I am not plugged into the community any longer.

If there are any others here reading these , please reply.

I sent Harley a message early this morning, too. I also had the same uncomfortable thought about somehow being disconnected from the community. The notifications are how I keep up with what is going on. Yes , I am very busy, a bit fried at the moment, but I consider myself to be an active member of Scribeslice, I read at least one, usually a few, things here each day, and if possible I leave a comment and try to be encouraging.

i noticed a severe lack of notifications myself, and although my time is also limited, i do try to come on and at least check up on my notifications, my personal opinion is that everyone is out enjoying the summertime, but i remember a year ago when i first signed up it was never this dead, so i don't know what's up....

I also have been miffed that for days now, there has been nothing and I felt that this site is slowly being fazed out!!!

Harley, if you are out there, please let us know what is going on?
Perhaps your long awaited twins have been born and you have them as your priority, which I feel sure we would all understand.

But what about the weekly updates? I didn't receive one this week.

Davide Castel

2nd July 2012

I received a weeky update ( I think). I also considered that maybe the twins have arrived, that would definitely be a happy reason, I also hope all is well with Harley and his family. This is indeed strange.

Warren Gates

2nd July 2012

Hi Warren. No weekly update for me. Just cold, windy, freezing rain for days now, around 13 degrees and we have 'No Heating.' Getting repaired today, hopefully.

Davide Castel

2nd July 2012

Warren, Lucy, Aaron, a few days ago, I saw a strange notification on here. It supposedly was from Harley...the heading was (to paraphrase) the site is going to be shut down or words to that effect. When I clicked on it to see what message it had... I could not get any further then the notification is non existent. After seeing this is when I wrote Harley about it; up to today, no reply.

Makes you wonder.

I did recieve a notifications e-mail after my message but that is it.

Leonard a. Wronke

2nd July 2012

Thanks Leonard, but I still have no notifications to date.
Methinks that something is definitely brewing in the land of the 'Not knowing what is going on!'
I would be very sad to see this site shut down instead of a 1st Anniversary celebration of when this site started in April last year, I think? but I was not expecting this.

Any other comments?

Good morning! Well, I got the notifications of the current discussion, and Lucy, one that you wrote The Pearls. I am rushing out the door, as usual, is this a re-post? I would hate like crazy to lose Scribeslice, the couple of nice people connections I have here, and the encouragement to write.

Warren Gates

2nd July 2012

Yes Warren, I got those notifications, but not the weekly ones.
And yes, 'The Pearls' is a re-post.

Davide Castel

3rd July 2012

Should one of us try contacting any of the community leaders to see what their take is on this.

Leonard a. Wronke

2nd July 2012

I just assumed everyone was busy too. I don't think I got a weekly update either. I really hope the site doesn't close :( This is my favorite one.

Samantha Wright

2nd July 2012

Let us just wait for another week and see what eventuates.

Davide Castel

3rd July 2012

I got my weekly update as usual, I am not sure why some of you have not. ScribeSlice is not closing :) Harley will be busy with his twins and we as a community will keep our dreams alive.

Between work,school,writing/illustrating my books, and my new girlfriend and her daughter my time is pretty slim, but I will have some new children stories to post soon.

Robert Harris

3rd July 2012

Good on you Robert!
I actually thought that Harley's twins were due in September? Unless they were born early.

Davide Castel

3rd July 2012

I did get the weekly update, and I think from where ScribeSlice first started until now is progress. I actually thought I was the only one that had experienced this notification loss, but as I can see I'm not the only one. Phew! That's a relief:b I really wish I could participate more here, and get to post and write more stuff (even my novel), but my time is limited on the computer. Sorry for that. My arthritis doesn't let me do much, and I'm not gonna allow for it to get worse either:/ Hopefully I work something out in the near future, or even buy something to help me type. I'm not gonna give up writing, that's for sures.

As far Harley's twins. Hooray! I agree with Lucy though, I didn't expect for them to arrive early, but sounds really good! We all understand Harley's situation and enthusiasm:)

Hi Everyone! It is nice to feel the comradery here. We are all over the world sharing not only our creativity but a bit of ourselves, too. Lucy, is the heat back on? Samantha, this is my favorite place too, sort of tied with flickr ! Robert- you are a busy man, but I suppose you have it down to a science and enjoy the busy-ness. Karen, I had no idea that you suffer from arthritis. I love your "Can't get me down " attitude! My time is fragmented so many ways and I often am absent for days. I am not sitting around, trust me!! Between work, the dogs, my volunteer work with the hunt club (I help with the hounds and it is my great joy, we call it Hound Immersion Therapy ), and my large unruly yard, I try to get guitar playing and songwriting into the 24 hours alloted to me, kind of clean the house, kind of eat, usually at the computer while trying to keep my eyes open!! I am happy that so many of you repsonded to this.

Warren Gates

3rd July 2012

@Warren - Hound Immersion Therapy? Sounds like a H.I.T. to me! =D
sorry couldn't help with that one, lol =P

good to see SS is not going anywhere, i've checked out a couple other writers sites and the one thing that stands out about ScribeSlice is that is not cluttered up with ads, links on the side bars and other useless stuff, making them hard to navigate, some of the other sites even have you pay to put up work after you fill a certain 'free membership' quota
and its easy to navigate once you know the basics, not to mention that we actually communicate here about all kinds of things

Aaron Greene

4th July 2012

ScribeSlice isn't going anywhere... I've just been really under the pump lately with work and life.

It's good to see people still like it here :)

Harley Bailey

4th July 2012

Thanks Harley for your clarifications.
I guess we have all come to depend somewhat on each other.

Karen, sorry to hear about your arthritis, it isn't much fun, I know, as I also suffer from arm joint pains and osteoporosis.

Keep writing folks!

Davide Castel

i always find it so strange that i know more about the day to day toils of 'virtual' strangers than i do most of the 'friends' i grew up with!

glad to see so much support! i mean if this community had been slow, the removal of notifications sure surfaced a lot of voices!

at least we know people are still reading, if not commenting or posting their own!

<3. thanks again harley for giving birth to this tremendous site.

Jordan Newman

4th July 2012

Thanks Warren and Lucy! Hard to write and type, but it's all worth it.
Waren: You're a real upbeat person! It's also great to hear your enthusiasm for this things you love to do:)

Thanks Harley for letting us know. Glad SS is not going anywhere!:)

Karen Gomez

4th July 2012

I've been off SS for a very long time and after returning this morning, I was surprised to see this all going on! But I have to say that its very reassuring to see that SS is not going to shut down. HAPPY WRITING EVERYBODY!

Daniel Bird

Aaron, that is good, acronyms are fun :) and you should check out my flickr site, go to the set called "Saxonburg Hunt" and just the photos alone will give you a clue as to why being with the hounds is definitely a cure for the blues. They are sweet and decidedly goofy.
Harley, as John Lennon said "Life is what happens while you are making other plans."
And things can pile up on a person pretty quickly. Thank you so much for Scribeslice!

Warren Gates

5th July 2012

hi buddies, sometime now, sorry for the absence but even then my mind has been here all the while. Am kind of unplugged netwise but the writing still goes on behind the scenes. Practically I miss the hustle and bustle here. Great to note you folks are fine. Keep writing!

Bill O. farmer

9th July 2012

I wondered what happened to you Bill, so am glad to know you are still around.
Warren, yes, our heating has been repaired, thank goodness. I froze for days!
Daniel, glad to know you are still around too.

Davide Castel

i'm still ill, guys. can only read bits at a time. nice to see your faces though.

Summer Breeze

What's wrong Jan? I hope nothing too serious? I know you have been through alot of pressures lately, so I would imagine your immunity levels are pretty low. Good luck and good health ASAP.

Davide Castel

13th July 2012

thanks, Lucy. it's a combination of heartbreak, depression, exhaustion and a stomach virus. :P it will take me a while to crawl my out of some of that.
