Joan Rivers

Oh man! I went to go see Joan Rivers live last night and she was hilarious! I just want to share that with you guys :p Has anyone on here gone to see her live?
Also, on monday I'm going to meet my favorite author, Jodi Picoult! I can't wait!

Has anyone met any of their favorite authors?

Mine died three months after I was born. I think my coming in the world was too much for her. :(

Joan Rivers can be funny but she can also be very abrasive at times. I have to be in a certain mood to appreciate her humor. As for Authors; I have never met any in person. It would be great to hear how they got started, what worked from them and what didn't. I get a lot of information here, but it would be great to speak with someone who has a best seller in the market today.

Cindy, I had a chance to work with two authors when I was editing for Oxford university press, and I tell you, it's a fantastic experience! You learn so much from them!

Asma Ahsan

Oh Asma how sad, at least I'm here and I met you! You're awesome!

Cindy, yeahhhh... It was exciting to just to get out and see her though but her humor is pretty cruel. It was also my first time going to a casino.
I think any writer would love to just spend a day with a published author. It'd truly be amazing!
I'm mentally preparing myself for Monday because I'll probably cry when I get up to Jodi. She is my main inspiration.

Ok, I met this military retired officer once who was writing a book on his unit. I was called because he wanted to talk to the editor personally. I was very scared. He was very formidable and to the point, but I made him laugh so much when criticizing his work that in the end I forgot he was an author and he started feeling like one of my dads old friends. :) I found him amazing to work with. Another author kept contact over the phone so I never met her but she asked them to appoint me for the proof reading of her book after I had edited it. She sounded pretty professional too and it was one good experience after another.

I met max landis at the comic con last year but I didn't do up to him. He is six foot seven I think and I am five two in height. I was embarrassed to approach him but managed a quick hand shake. I saw him talking and mingling and he was so young(29 I think) but so talented! Have you seen the movie 'chronicle'? He wrote it. It's an awesome movie about teenagers. He seems to be in touch with the problems teenagers face. My son loves him!

A bit young for me, almost ten years but seriously very endearing actually as a person. He wore the same shirt straight two days. That was really something. Check picture for shirt details.

My son has a picture with him in this same shirt. One day when he gets oscars hopefully we will frame it and show off we met him. :) this shirt and tie might be sold for millions, after they wash and disinfect it that is. :P I wonder if he will wear the same again this year at film and comic con. Oh, mr fantastic actor is coming. He is so super cute!

Analise Arto

I have noticed that bradley cooper is very popular these days. There is something about him I just don't like. I don't know what. I stick to Hugh jackman. :)

Asma Ahsan

11th March 2013

I just think Bradley Cooper is really really hot thats all. Hugh Jackman does seem nice. Plus he has a nice wife as well :)

Analise Arto

11th March 2013

At your age, you check out Bradley cooper, at my age I drool over Hugh jackman and envy his wife. ;)

I have a lovely husband. Isn't life sad! :(

Asma Ahsan

12th March 2013

How is it sad? You are lucky you have a loving husband, I have no one :( But it is cute your little crush!!!!

Analise Arto

13th March 2013

How old are you? Wait a few years. :) at your age I had eleven boys after me and me in love with three actors in Hollywood at the same time. Richard gere was my top favourite.

Asma Ahsan

12th March 2013

You women and your crushes. :P

Daniela Bustamante

12th March 2013

I got over mine in my teenage. I only had crushed on actors, never real men around me. Star crushes were the rage in my days. Now I just admire good looking men older than me. They are all married and some even grand fathers, so life is sad. :P

Not a word against Richard gere. He was so cute in ''Pretty Woman"!

Asma Ahsan

13th March 2013

Asma I am 15. I just any actor or boy in my year that is good looking really!! It may sound sad but it is true :)

Analise Arto

14th March 2013

You are in the best age. Right now you can have silly and simple crushes on muscled boys and superstars. As you grow older and the time comes to settle down, you will know exactly what you need in a man and will be able to find him, hopefully. :)

Enjoy your teens! It's the best time of your life! You have no liabilities like we middle aged people have. We have so much to manage it's impossible sometimes to even get a good nights rest. :)

Asma Ahsan

13th March 2013

I know, that's why I want to stay a kid for as long as possible!!! When I am in my late 2os early 30s I would choose men for their personality!!

Analise Arto

16th March 2013

Good idea. A strong man with a good personality makes a perfect husband. :)

Asma Ahsan

24th March 2013

Nothing wrong with Richard Gere! I personally am in love with Anderson Cooper even if he is gay! And Thomas Gibson from Criminal minds. I think many older men are very handsome but I also have my young ones lined up.

A few years ago, I spoke to an author, bought her book called 'Don't Kiss them Goodbye' and she also signed it.

When I asked her if she saw dead people around me, she replied, 'I only see live people around you'.

She came to Melbourne with her husband, and thanks to my daughter, who took me to see her, I also had a photo taken with her of course.

I still watch all of her TV programmes and own three of her books.
Her name? Alison Dubois....Medium.

I have been to many authors signings, but mostly authors of real life stories.

Davide Castel

5th April 2013

lucy, I was told I had a gift. That if I try, I can see dead people around me. I don't want to so I make sure I only hang around the living, if I had the gift, I never used it and it's gone now.

I stay very firmly grounded In reality and stay away front he spirit world. They like to visit me sometimes in my dreams. I can't control that.

Asma Ahsan

8th April 2013

Oh Asma...Oh How I wish I could see those dead and to be able to use that gift to help others.

They do say that if you don't keep the gift alive, it disappears. You still have the gift of being intuitive, and it sounds like it has made you so much more mature for your age, for you seem like a real 'Enlightened Soul'. Your family are so fortunate to have you!

Davide Castel

8th April 2013

What is An enlightened soul. Someone else told me I am one. I don't understand what it means.

Asma Ahsan

8th April 2013

I corrected a few spelling errors now.
An enlightened soul is a soul that sees beyond the here and now. My mother in law was one.
She was never one for the petty gripes, squabbles, importance of materialistic doings, etc.
It is said that most humans never reach that fourth stage in life, childhood, adolescent, maturity and Godliness!
My husband, and I think my father too, never got beyond the 2nd stage. No-one seems to be able to get beyond the 3rd stage though, unless they are saints!
Well anyhow, that is my understanding Asma.

Davide Castel

9th April 2013

Hmm. What is stage four exactly? Godliness? I think I just entered stage three. Almost.

By the way, even as a child, I could control my feelings and never went for the petty stuff. Just seemed like a waste of time. I don't like the way my head feels if I am angry so I try to control it as soon as I feel the anger coming. I could always do that somehow.

Asma Ahsan

8th April 2013

Asma...Godliness is the perfect being, and we were all born with original sin, that means we were born imperfect beings.

We were sent here to earth to improve our souls, do the best as is humanly possible, try to make more love and peace in this world. Unfortunately, the world is destroying itself with too many 'Sins of the flesh' which could mean material stuff or, you know, the other stuff!

Just be a good and kind soul and you get to see things in a different light!
Again, that is what I believe in, whether right or wrong, I'll stick to what I believe in, otherwise I would go crazy trying to figure everything out!

Does any of this make sense? Don't quote me, I need to live with myself too!

Davide Castel

9th April 2013

I understand - I dont want to be perfect - I am fine at stage 3. :) I am not ambition at all. Which stage does that make me?

Asma Ahsan

8th April 2013

I saw this guy at Comic Con - he is so WOW!!!!

Played MR FANTASTIC - Ioan Gruffudd - so FANTASTIC in real life!

Married happily and loves his daughter, but hey, he is a celebrity, so I am allowed to have a star crush on him, no offence to his Mrs. :) Check how good his picture came! I took this with my phone.

He is so CUTE!!!!
