Sorry for my ignorance Don, but what is a 'hole in one?'
Although I would imagine it must be what professional golfers achieve?

Whatever, CONGRATULATIONS, for it sounds like some great achievement for you.
Satisfaction means success in one's life.

Far out!!! I hope that made your day a whole lot better, Don!!

@Lucy: A hole in one is when a golfer hits the ball just one time and it goes in the hole. The odds are about 45,000 to 1 against it. It's like bowling a 300 game or pitching a no hitter in baseball. (Sorry, you may not know what that is either). It is an accomplishment that few golfers ever realize.
@ Warren: Thanks! Your e-mail made my day a whole lot better.
@Deb: Thank you Deb. I appreciate your kind remarks.

Don...Wow! So you have had 54 years of practice? Is that how long it takes?
No wonder when the professionals get it so young, they are obviously very special.
You probably need such good judgement and practice, and in your case, 54 yrs.
Now you can die happy...having achieved your goal!
Not that I want you to die just yet, as I imagine you might even outlast some of us younger ones! You have too much writing to do, to Carrk it, or kick the bucket, just yet!

BIRDIE? Explain a Birdie. :)

Congrats. :)

Lucy - STOP - lol!

Well done Don. Another amazing coincidence because today an Australian female golfer made 2 holes in one in the same round. Well done. The only way I would ever make a hole in one is if I teed off from 1 inch from the hole.

sorry don but i would have to say this about the sport called golf.....it is to me the most rediculous game invented by man when two grown up adults each holding a stick trying to hit a ball to land in a hole a mile away....which is impossible to do and the people that actually manage to accomplish such feet only do so out of pure luck.....yet they jump with joy when it happens thinking it was their great skill that did it.....it is not....then again golf is so boring....there is no fighting in it....sorry

Ahmed - sigh - thanks for that valuable bit of information on why you dont like Golf. I dont know why we play it. Please forgive us. Please continue to Ski in Jeddah and please wear a warm hat so you dont catch a cold.

Have you been to Ski Dubai in Mall of Emirates here in Dubai? Its an indoor ski park. Its really cool. YOU need one of those in Jeddah to keep a cool head at all times. :(

Ahmed Alireza

8th May 2013

question to don....does a hole in one mean that the ball goes in the air and dives straight into the hole on the ground or can the ball run along the grass into the hole and still be considered a hole in one.....question 2....has anyone ever done it twice in a row....or three times in a row.....

Ahmed Alireza

8th May 2013

That's better. Don't hate so much. Say, you don't like. Hate is too strong. :)

Please can I see the picture of the fish you caught. These ones are huge! You did it alone or with friends. Wow! Arabs are nuts over football. I noticed. They show live games here in cinemas.

Don....Today I went to the funeral of an 84 yr. old, who was a great sportsman and absolutely loved his golf. His son gave the Eulogy, so I know all of this now, however he said that his father died, without ever having achieved a 'Hole in one'! I wasn't having a go at you Don, but apparently it is soooo difficult to achieve.

See? our dearly departed friend could never achieve that, and I am sure he played for longer than you! So again I say Congrats. Sometimes I am just so ignorant of certain sports. My husband often watches the football and the boxing, yet I can't stand the boxing and am getting used to seeing MY TEAM play the footy, that I don't mind watching it with him anymore.

So unless one doesn't understand the rules, how on earth can they enjoy watching that sport?

Congrats Don!

As for everyone else, your comments are pretty funny.

Lucy, you're not the only one who doesn't know about sports. I dislike watching sports so much simply because no one will explain them to me. I feel out of the loop since most American women enjoy watching sports. I, on the other hand would prefer to listen to music or sleep hahaha! Every Thanksgiving, our family watches football and where am I?! being anti-social since I hate it.

Congratulations Don!!! Sorry I don't know anything about golf so I don't know what a Hole in One is :(

They say a good golfer should always take an extra pair of trousers with them incase they get a hole in one.

Leslie Blackwell

Now that is really funny Leslie!
Another side to you?
Do you work in a mortuary?

Davide Castel

11th May 2013

sorry asma i dont have a pic of the fish.....i was alone when i speared it cos my freinds are too scared with a bleading fish in the vicinity of sharks.....i have a good trick when i spear large fish....i dive to around 7 meters then i bang on my spear gun with a knife and the fish come over to check the noise....thats what the rarracuda did....and when it was close enough....like a foot away i let go of the spear and it went right throgh its mouth to its stomach.....then i dive back up as i pull the fish along....i can hold my breath for like 15 minutes before i need to go back up again for air.....

Ahmed Alireza

11th May 2013

You can't be real!!! Unless a freak...Pulling our leg?

Davide Castel

11th May 2013

i was going to tell you about the time i was attacked by a fully grown male lion in africa that i killed with my bare hands in a strangle like hold.... seeing that you dont take my stories seriously enough......lions are not as tough as people make them out to be.....you gotta let the lion know that right from the start....i have pics of that to prove it as well as my mesai african friends who witnessed the fight....

Ahmed Alireza

11th May 2013

Lucy, the Arabs are very adventurous. Ahmed is probably telling the truth.

Ahmed, do you have a stable of horses. What breed do you keep? Horse riding is a big part of Arab culture.

Asma Ahsan

11th May 2013

thank you asma....no i dont have any horses....but had at one time 2 wives....i dont have any camels either.....nor goats.....

Ahmed Alireza

11th May 2013

Ahmed...You have an extremely vivid imagination!
Killing a Lion...staying underwater for 15 mins. without breathing?
Sorry, but I plead to be a doubting Thomas on the subject of your adventures.

Davide Castel

12th May 2013

no need to plead lucy....for i have over the years gotten quite used to other peoples doubts ..... you will be suprised what a couple of acid drops and a few hits on a crack pipe can do......houdini stayed underwater for hours...chained and in a straight jacket....gladiaters killed lions all the time....

Ahmed Alireza

11th May 2013

But you are NOT THEY! So please, don't pull my leg.

Davide Castel

12th May 2013

lucy...you are obviously jelous of my accomplishments....asma believes me and so do many on this site.....i was going to tell you more stories of some of my amazing adventures other than killing lions and staying underwater for long periods.....i would like to let my ex wives tell you but they are no longer attached to me....

Ahmed Alireza

12th May 2013

Harry Houdini's top record for actually holding his breath is 4 minutes, remember he was a magician and therefore some of his work was illusion. At one time he was sealed in a coffin and submerged into water for an hour and a half but he himself claims to have done by a method of controlled breathing and very little movement.
