Don , all the suggestions have been made. I hope by my inserting Perra's name for who the prisoner was clears up this unclear paragraph. I need to know how to use the italics on this site since I need a whole section of the next chapter italicized.

A still recovering, bandaged Athene, gingerly, laid down on a mat, upon the
floor, beside H'br'a. As instructed, Athene extended her right arm, palm up while
H'br'a mirrored this action with her left arm.

Soru, taking the cutlass, as H'br'a had explained, made an incision in
both their palms, causing a steady stream of blood. After the two distinct
discharges ( Athene's red and H'br'a's yellow) started to flow, H'br'a's palm was
placed on top of Athene's. As soon as the two flowings blended into an orange
tint, Soru clasped the two palms tightly together, holding them both, firmly with her
own hands.

Soru noticed that the longer she held the palms together, the colder H'br'a's
hand became while Athene's hand became hotter.

After a few minutes, Athene's body started to shake. Her eyes rolled back. A
frothy spittle formed at the edges of Athene's mouth. Distressed by this, Soru was going
to release their palms.

H'br'a halted her and spoke, " Do not release yet. I know that Athene's
reactions are alarming. It's because she is older than usual for a surrogate. It will
pass. Please, continue to hold tight until...."

Athene's body gave one massive upward jolt. Her mouth opened as if to scream.
One more convulsion seized her as her body stiffened, then it ceased all reaction and
became deathly still.

Neith was not aware of the miraculous transformation going on below decks as she
composed herself and re-entered the wheelhouse. It would not do for the "VIRAGO" 's
captain to show emotion. The crew might misunderstand her resolve.

Though H'br'a had been her captain and her friend, Neith had to trust that
what was to occur would be the best possible action.

After Neith had calmed herself, she turned her mind to other matters, such as what
to  do about the woman captive.

Neith approached the wheelhouse's door cloth.

As she pulled the cloth back to enter, Neith noticed a crew member waiting
within.

Neith asked the crew member what her business would be.

The crew member stated that the woman captive, Perra, was not anywhere within the
confines of the ship. Perra's absence had just been noticed within the last few
minutes when her cell had been checked. Even though a thorough search was being
made, all results up to now yielded no recapture. 5 comments

Neith, after hearing this, replied that if the prisoner was nowhere to be
found she had probably managed to escape back to the "SCHEOL". It is no matter,
Idon will find an unpleasant way to handle the matter when the captive is found after
the humiliation she caused him.

Neith dismissed the crew member and, promptly, ordered the navigator to
resume their heading.

Idon walked along the railing of the "SCHEOL" 's deck deep in thought. What the
female captain had offered him as terms of his ship's release had been more than
generous. He would give Neith's words serious consideration,

He wondered if it was possible for an old sea hand, such as himself, to change his
destiny.

Silently, he vowed that if he and Neith did meet again it would be as allies.

Idon had but one regret. He wanted the opportunity to face the female who had
disgraced him.

He realized that his wish was, probably, not an option. He put it out of his mind
and gave the oar master the command to set sail. 1 comment
