For Charlie

God was approached about two lost souls,
who wanted to find each other, He was told.

Both had sought a special friend,
one who would help them each to mend
      from the suffering and pain
that only the "forgotten" can name.

Their beginning was strictly by chance.
Neither one had desired to be part of
      life's dance.

Both had thought that time had passed
that neither would find someone to
      hold on fast.

God decreed that there was truly a choice.
He spoke to them, in a gentle voice,

"It is each your turn. Heed me, now, and
      you shall learn.

That no one is truly alone when the seeds
      of love are sown.
Take each the other by the hand. Be together
      as woman and man.

Forget all about your lonely pasts. What
you have now is meant to last.

      Believe in Me and you shall see;
what you have was meant to be."
