soul mates

The evening breeze caressed  the trees, tenderly......

How I long for the evening breeze
And for its song through Hickory trees

To cool my skin and soothe my soul
When daily chores have took their toll

A balm on sores of daily living,
Never taking, always giving.

For its fragrance warm and pure
To cure me when the herbs won't cure.

To sing to me when all is still
A soft duet with a whippoorwill.
