soul mates

I drove to the club house

through the pouring rain.

I wanted to play a hand or two

And not feel any pain.

I bought in  for a five dollar bill

And immediately I lost three,

Then fortune smiled upon my hand

The chips came back to me!

I felt real good all of a sudden,

Vibrant, cheerful, alive.

And when the game was over,

I found that I'd won five.
