i see angels above me, i see demons below me, fighting over heaven.
i loved her more when i was sober.
i don't want a second chance.
love starts with that of a flickerin' cigarette
bury my heart on the cold corner.

soul mates

it's much too late for me to find safety
in the words she had tried so hard to say.
time has came and taken from us every day
but still I'm not depressed, I'm just barely
happy, that's all- i promise, to you i vow,
this is the best i can be, the only way
I'm able to be; alive but barely here at all.
if only we could return to the days of elementary
then I'd maybe take it seriously so then today
i wouldn't be so alone, sitting here just barely
holding it all together! and i wonder if maybe
you think of me at all? remember that one day
when i braided your hair? we were drunk as hell,
higher than the sky, trying to find a reason why
the days go on as they do; but here i am barely
breathing, barely living, barely doing any-
thing other than feeling sorry for those ways
i used to be, hoping to god i may once be happy
one more time before i die because my dear lover
you were the only girl to get me, to feel me, to
see me for who i am and for that i am quite thankful.
I'm cold but warm and sad but happy all the same all
the time; and nothing could clear me from this misery.
oh my god? what has happened to us? what took from me
the only thing that made my heart dance? i fight daily
for love like addicts combat getting high, oh my dear
do you believe i fell for you as you fell for me?
in the attic of a friends house we were so completely
perfect for each other so what happened? i quietly
wonder if those days will ever return, if my city
will once again harbor for me the hopes of a lovely
future where you and i can complete our tragic story.
