The Ax Man Cometh

A measure of death’s integrity
Is often found in how it gets around
And makes its rounds with duplicity
The clock tower in the background
Getting where it’s going every time
Always listening for the mournful sound
Striking every hour with its chime.
Never let the hands reach further out
Than he can reach without a fitful climb
Or need to turn himself about
And find a new route within the city.
Striking each with mere simplicity.
Without remorse, without regret or pity
