soul mates

This is a personal prayer that i wrote for my son Connor when he had been sick.  He died about 2 years after writing this poem.  This was at a time when I wasn't sure he would make it through the night.

Wish Him Well
(Written for:  Connor Adam Beitinger, May 3, 2000 - January 9, 2005)

If I could ask for just one thing,
Please wish him well.
If I could have a dream come true,
Please wish him well.
If I could trade the moon and stars,
Please wish him well.
If I could give you something in return,
I would have you wish him well,
For he is my angel, a gift from above,
A child I dearly love.
So much pain he has to suffer to get
Through a single day.
I wish for him days full of sunshine,
Laughter and play.
I wish he could walk through a field of flowers
Or run and jump in the snow
But instead...
He watches the same old shows.
Day in, day out he smiles and sends his love
I’m sure he is my angel from above.
I tell him I’m sorry for his pain
And he smiles at me with sunshine
When all he sees is pouring rain
Its okay Mommy, you can’t take it away,
But I’ll be better on another day.
If I could ask for just one thing,
Please wish him well.
Please wish him well.
