"the hike is easier when your foot is in your own shoe." That is fantastic, this stanza as a whole is a good life lesson.

      MOMMA  WAS  FROM  EARTH

See the little lady – young, beautiful and pure.
So many temptations, right-wrong, she’s so unsure.
Taunts from her peers when she says “No”, they say “Immature.”
She says “Momma, help, how much more can I endure?”
Mom smiled and said, “My friends, do you judge grown and mature?
They speak of you as wise for your age, think you’re strong and sure?
Don’t they take pride when you outsmart a baited lure?
I don’t have all the answers, don’t know every cure.
Choose who to believe, it’s your life not a guided tour.
It’s a lesson to learn – how to decide who’s full of manure!

No, my child, life is very hard, it sure isn’t fair.
With so much pain, why should you care?
Because you can’t fly if you can’t take air.
Oh, you can take it all, you never have to share.
But how fun is winning if no one else is there?

Life gets spinning, so fast, it’s hard to see what to do.
Everyone you love and your whole world depending on you.
Sometimes it’ll get so heavy, it can make you blue.
Do you believe I have the secrets to make happily-ever-after true?
Everyone could use a few hints, needs to catch a clue.
Thank you, but, honey don’t forget, that means me, too.
I just know the hike’s easier when your foot is in your own shoe.
Don’t give the devil nothing, he’ll always take what he’s due.
Please understand, I want you to soar where I never flew.
I just want to teach you to learn everything I never knew. 2 comments
