soul mates

Stuck in an underground room
A musty odor, like wadded up gym socks
Assaults my sense of smell
The quietness of the ocean
Like a seashell held up to the ear
Permeates my hearing

A question rises before me, a closed door
It fills my eyes and mind
I see it but dimly
If I open it, I will go somewhere,
Somewhere out of here
Beyond that, I do not know

I am troubled
I must make a decision
Stay or go
So much of my life has been like this
And once again life repeats itself
I must decide
