GOD,   PLEASE…

Her dad woke her up in the middle of the night.
Said, “Get up, girl your momma’s sick, she’s not right.”
She answered  smart he said, “Now is not the time to fight.
This is serious open your eyes, turn on your light.”
There, dad and the doctor came out,Dad was snow white.
Doc said “It doesn’t look good, it’s a real bad sight.”
It all started to spin, and she hit her knees.
She began to pray with the words, “ God, please…”
“WHY NOT?  I’LL NEVER HURT HER AS YOU’VE DONE.
YOU CAN GO LIVE YOUR  LIFE, GO HAVE YOUR FUN.
YOU SEEK FREEDOM AS SHE CARRIES YOUR LOAD.
SHE  NEEDS REST, SHE’S LOVED AND WELCOME IN MY FOLD.”
“Lord, please no, one more chance, I’ve learned my lesson.
I promise to try not to be a burden, but a real blessing.
It’s selfish, but I want her and will try not to fail.”
“FOR AWHILE THEN, ‘CAUSE SHE PRAYS TO KEEP YOU FROM HELL.”

She’d been working real hard, a career in mind.
Time for playing with her baby, she just couldn’t find.
Not that she didn’t want to, but time wasn’t that kind.
Until the night the child’s raging fever began to climb.
Then the child wouldn’t open her eyes, not a good sign.
Everything the woman wanted began to slowly unwind.

He was a hard man, and he had lived a hard life.
Didn’t think twice about what he took out on his wife.
Didn’t use his fist, but his words cut sharp as a knife.
Didn’t believe in easing anyone’s pain, suffering or strife.
Her beside him, road rage hit, then the car flipped twice.
Thought he was fine until he saw her blood on the fuzzy dice.
It all started to spin, and he hit his knees.
He began to pray with the words, “ God, please…”
