This is a repost of my fantasy version of a different kind of INTERVIEW which we were asked to do in our U3A class.  I will post a short story soon, as a follow up to this Interview.

The time has come, so I am here
To present myself and to appear
Before the gate, hope I’m not late
For I have waited a long, long time
To reach this point and not disappoint
Eternity beckons, we all should know
Don’t stop me now, for I must go.

I huff and puff and struggle to run
This fateful Interview waits for none
St. Peter waits at the Golden Gate
Waiting, waiting, is he hesitating? 2 comments

‘Here I come!’ I scream from afar.
‘I hope I’m not late...?
I'm nearly there...behind this star...'

But still I struggle, will I be on time?
For punctuality is no friend of mine
My legs feel leaden and they slow up my feet
An embarrassing way for us to meet and greet
With horror and fear the gate begins to close
And shuts with a sigh, I've missed by a nose!

This can’t be happening, why is it so?
Was this then not my time to go?
I plead then cry...'Please open that gate!'
Am I destined for this repeated fate?
My face is wet, as the tears still flow
And so is my pillow,
Well wouldn't you know! 6 comments

In my dreams I have learned a lesson
When it's time to go, don't hesitate
The alarm clock rings,
As I ponder my reaction
I then jump out of bed...
I'm leaving...don't want no distraction!
