Another well written piece. I love the first verse but I am doubtful of the use of 'whence'. Can you explain, please, why a word that means 'from what place' fits what you wish to say?

I think you are right Thanks for picking the mistake. It should be 'when' instead of 'whence'.

Do you remember still the day
When I went away not knowing
When the hands of fate had its say
In times of love’s first sowing. 2 comments

Then I had the resolve of purpose
Which was broken up by the nameless;
For the devil unnamed from the deep arose
To consume my mind and leave me helpless.

Paralyzed he left me, indeed;
From which I now rise and make ground
But who is the other one you breed
In your heart like love newly found. 1 comment

But I will come back nevertheless
To you and all the rest
For I know you are not so heartless
To drive me away in utter distaste.
