could also work as "May it never be-May it never be so." not sure this change would make much difference (more so just an observation).

"her name sounds to me like the ringing of a tissue"- how poetic.

Like the term manxsome - a word Lewis Carol used to describe the Jabberwocky (I think) "He took his vorpal sword in hand: Long time the manxome foe he sought -- So rested he by the Tumtum tree, And stood awhile in thought."

You are right, Leslie. Lewis Carroll's poem, "Jabberwocky", is where I "borrowed" that "non-word" from. How astute of you to notice.

soul mates

I'm trying once again.  This may not be very good, but it's all I've got.

I ran her through with eyes rounder than the dawn
She thought me uncaring, or perhaps I just labored
With breathing beyond me.

So came the point of our celebration fixed on the date
That we shared.  I took the last and trembled.
May it never be so?
May it never be.  And that was that. 1 comment

I shall never be sure.  Always divided.   Painfully sure.
I felt it come out of her.  A gasp of tightness.
Pure yet tainted in the morning breeze as the jays warned me.
The spread is comforting as we shed all thought and remainder
Locked upon the overhead.

Overhead?  Oversight?  Overbite?  I can’t recall…
And yet her name sounds to me like the ringing of a tissue
Made patient through waters.  Be.
Let it all be gone and trouble me no more. 1 comment

Yet I want her.  I want her with me to ever grace my side
Like manxsome foe or private stash or putty
She will follow me wherever I shall go. 2 comments
