soul mates

You'd never imagine,
that girl with those eyes, and that smile,
Has carried a pain,
for many miles.

No scars on her arm,
just scars on her heart.
No evidence of pain,
that's what sets her apart.

You'd never notice,
with her slight smile and quiet ways,
how she tends to spend,
the rest of each day.

Locked in her room,
as screams escape from downstairs.
Her wrists and thighs, riddled scars.
Even one across her neck hidden by hair.

A smile on their face,
no evident pain.
Two girls so different,
and still the same
