soul mates

Upon a distant darkling plain
mad, cruel, angry men,
march once again to war

Sweet songs of summer birds,
music of a gentle wind
are drowned out
by the ugly cannons roar

Dark bitter clouds
are piling deep
and as it begins to rain
all that’s left is death
to gather up
the bodies of the dead
that lie like broken clay
upon a distant darkling plain
