I think it would have more impact if you were to entwine the two conflicting voices into one - eg. One speaks of wisdom, The other of nonsense, I feel the need for stability, and wish for adventure.

soul mates

This one came from a life-long feeling that I have two sides of myself. It kinda just popped into my head tonight, so I'm throwing it out there the way it came into my mind. It's a little choppy, but that's actually how it feels for me, so I guess that's as good as it's gonna get.

There's two of me, but
We share a body,
We are one.

I have two minds,
My heart has two rhythms.
I have two voices
In my head.

I hear the wise words,
I hear the wisdom.
I feel the need for sensibility;
I have a wish for stability.

And,

I hear the reckless words,
I hear the nonsense.
I feel the need for excitement;
I have a wish for adventure. 1 comment

I'm young,
I'm old;
I'm cowardly, and
I'm bold.
I'm sensitive,
I'm stone cold;
I'm sensible, and
I'm reprehensible.

But in the end,
It's just the two of me in here.
So we keep each other company,
With our smiles,
And our tears.
