Youth and Old Age   by Don Yarber copyright

Although I hardly know you,
You have caused me much concern.
You’ve brought back dreams of yesteryears,
When my heart was young.
And though I’ve seen a lot of life,
There are things I’ve yet to learn…
Like joys and sorrows, laughter, tears,
And songs that must be sung.

It’s youth like yours that haunts me
As I think of years gone by.
All the wasted summers dizzily
Flash through my troubled mind.
The jigsaw pieces of my life
Here and there, all scattered, lie…
Dropped by a careless, carefree child,
Too rushed to look behind.
