soul mates

I look up and it's pitch black
I look around and see the outline of the four walls that trap me
I feel alone and drained
I taste distilled air, everything is motionless

You flood my mind
I remember your touch
I can almost taste your kiss
I long for you

I turn over hoping the pain will cease
Knowing you're in my dreams
waking up alone kills me

It all seems so real
I reach over to touch you
But I feel empty air instead
At this point I know my mind is playing games

My eyes water
I cover my face with my blanket
I grab hold of the stuffed animal you gave me
Wishing with all my heart it was you

With slumber coming over me I hold tighter...
Then drift into my dreaming of you
