soul mates

Where has the time gone that you promised me?
Your time that you spent so carelessly
I’ve gone past you and now you want me to be free?
You couldn’t spare the moments I waited for endlessly
Will you look and regret after I leave
Will you weep for the times that could have been?
I stood by your side offering my mind
Whilst you stood by me offering a distracted smile
I read to me, when it should have been you
I walked alone in the garden made for two.
Your endless words of “I'm coming, just a second please”
But yet another task always prioritised in front of me.
Will you just put up my paintings on a wall? But not watch how I fall?
I wanted your hand in everything I spelt
Or ask about any mistakes I made, how I felt
I waited for your smile for everything new I tried
But you just absently nodded without knowing why
Will you just frown upon any wrong I do
Without learning how I am with you?
The child you craved for is still here if you want
But you need to give me some time, just once
I grow older each day, do you realise
I move further away from the times I wished it was just me and you.
My question is one; when can you return that time for the child that has gone?
