What is your purpose in Life?

Is it to write a bestseller?
Complete your autobiography?
Share your experiences?
Fulfill an urgent message?
Help those who need you?
Share your inner thoughts, to help others?
Complete works on your bucket list?
Or just plain, be a good person, travelling through life?
Then to see what life gives you?
Either of these, tells the writer/person that you are!

Share your experiences, we need them!

I want as many people as possible to remember me, or if I can't do that, remember the things I've done/made.

Yes, that is a good one. To leave an imprint in this world.

You've listed a bunch of my goals but my greatest purpose, I suppose is to experience new things everyday, share what I have learned, help others and document where I have been and what I have felt and what I hope to see/feel in the future.

Thank you Cindy, as usual you do pick things that are very important in this one life that we have.

I have no idea what my purpose in life is.
I simply live day to day, and attempt to fill my daily experience with memorable deeds and such

In a way, that is also a good way to live. There is an old saying:

'Our purpose in life is not just to be happy,
But to be USEFUL, HONORABLE AND COMPASSIONATE,
By doing this, we get that inner happiness.'

Great question Lucy, I want to live everyday to the fullest which to me includes helping others however that may be (0ESPECIALLY if they can't help me back), loving my family, traveling, share my experiences and learn as much as possible. After all the learning process is eternal.

This is certainly something I ponder frequently and never have an answer for. (I know certain people who think my purpose in life is to serve THEM) I do not know!! Perhaps what I do best is my purpose, and that is take care of the pets I have been blessed with. I doubt if anyone will remember me when I am gone. I have made no impact on the world and keep to myself as much as possible.

To each their own! Whether you are kind to people or animals, we are all living beings.

There is also a difference to being 'A soft touch' or being USEFUL without feeling USED!
We each of us live our lives to our own purpose. It depends what makes you feel happy inside.

This is a question I knew the answer to ever since I was around 6yrs old, it was not something I had to search for or someone had to tell me, I felt it.

Having my experience and life be an inspiration to others because it is all I have, being a writer/artist are just labels but they came naturally to me. I am able to write and create things that feeds the soul.

I don't view this as a talent or magic, but a gift. I know that what I do is not of my own power and ability. My life is at peace knowing that the things I have no control of are the things I was put on this earth to experience from my own prospective and share.

Great to see you back Robert. Have been away for a few weeks.

Love what you wrote.

I think that very few people can actually pin point the purpose for which they have been put on this earth for and only at the latter part of life does one get the opportunity to reflect on the successes and missed opportunities within his/her life.

Our destinations in life are not always clear for us to see, but as far as I can see my purpose in life is simply to live and hopefully pass on any knowledge and wisdom to the following generation so the human race will continue to grow in its understanding of the world around us.

Ours is not to reason why, ours is to do or die!

Yes Leslie...I also agree with what you say. Do what one thinks is right for them, without hurting others.

My Life Purpose -- Ahhhhhhh that's a biggie. I'm still working on figuring this out.
I'm new here but I enjoyed reading everyone's posts, though. Your responses encourage me to dig a bit deeper so that I can come up with an answer by Jan 01, 2015.

Well keep thinking. It shouldn't be too hard.

Ah,yes...to what purpose might I attain? That is the question which most of us struggle with during the span of a lifetime. Some go to the grave not really ever knowing the``why``of their existence. Perhaps it is just the simplicity of living, loving and being loved in return that makes life worth living.`Well, at least for some. Pity the poor soul who gives up the zest for life only to surrender to morbid reflection of a life seemingly wasted. Some purpose to write, and if that be the case, then, by all means, write it all out until it hurts!Purpose is a path that may or may not branch out into an expanse of unimaginable possibility. But one may never know until one takes a chance. Who knows, one day, I may even heed my own advice.

Allen Clarke

Allen...That was very philosophical and it made sense too.

As you can see, from what others have written, we each have a different meaning to the word 'PURPOSE'. Some are still searching FOR their 'MEANING OF LIFE!'
