Grazie!

The present photo I have here was taken some years ago at a restaurant on top of a hill overlooking Lake Como, Italy! The background is quite hazy, but the view was magnificent.
Will be changing it again soon!

Warren...The moment I saw your new picture, the first thought was that it looked like one of the Stained glass windows in our Church of J.C. with the halo, tendering his lamb.
Then I had to look at your profile page to get a better look, and saw that it was a round window behind your head, that looked like a halo!

Amazing how first impressions strike you!

I'm nearly ready to change my picture again.

Asma...You are very creative so you might have to do a picture for me too.
No, only kidding!

Asma, I love your new book cover. I still can't figure out how to do it.
what program does one use? And do you need to buy it? For I don't pay for anything over the internet! I still do my own banking and paying with cheques.

Ok....Take a picture. Go on google, type, free software to edit pictures online. Choose a program. open it. upload your picture, then choose options.

In this one, I chose the option under frames. This is a frame, all the yellow effect. You can frame any picture with this frame option. They just put the picture behind the frame, thats all.

Then once satisfied, you copy the image and paste it to powerpoint, word, or paint. I used paint. There you add a text box and play with it untill desired font size and style and colour is reached. Edit size, edges if needed, and then save file as jpeg format.

thats it.

load it anywhere you like.

Paul uses powerpoint. I will try it today. I didnt have laptop earlier. Now I have powerpoint. I will try his technique which is more advanced.

You can use any effects on other sofwares too but at the end of the day, its how you arrange it that gives the final effect.

I use powerpoint as well. You can layer images and text without any problem at all.

Thank you both for your help.
I may have to try it, but I do have lots of photo programes on my computer, because my nephew set this up. He is into computers for his work and because he knows about me liking my photos, doing collages etc. So now I use PhotoScape and MGI PhotoSuite 4 they seem to do lots of frames etc. too. In fact they are miraculous for me -(both of these are my favourites.)
I do also have installed, PAINT, Windows Live Moviemaker, and Serif PhotoPlus 5.5. There should be a Powerpoint there somewhere too.

However, I may give your suggestions a try too.

Oh Lucy, there is no halo with my name on it! :)

Asma, try Picmonkey, it is free, (the upgrade cost some money, not a lot) it has good editing tools

Uptil now, I had this stubborn thing that I will do my editing from scratch, no effects. I take pictures with light and focus control with my camera. I use an auto setting on may camera and I adjust the light with my eye only, I don't even use a flash. I like the raw effect. But now, since I am trying to design more professional looking stuff, I will have to use softwares. I just tried this one random free one, I don't even remember the name. The window popped up and I just edited and copied the picture. I will however look into them now.

I still feel that effects should be created from scratch, to make your work yours exclusively.

Thats just my thing actually. I like to be completely original if I can so I take very little inspiration from others. This is why my work is not that professional looking. Because I don't use softwares,

Asma...That new profile picture you created for just me, is wonderful. It looks great too. Grazie!

Warren...I love your new sepia photo, of you in pensive mood?

I have put my Surfers photo on at the moment, to complement my 'Reflections of Happiness' but will soon change it again, as I usually do, of course.

Davide Castel

Lucy and Warren, both have wonderful pictures on. :)

Asma Ahsan

Well, thanks! Lucy, do you actually surf?
Finding photos of myself that I can live with is not easy. :) I would rather be on the other side of the camera, but sometimes in certain internet situations we need to see who we are talking to.

Warren Gates

Warren, not only don't I surf, but I can hardly swim! I will only get into water that is in the tropics, nice and warm...I don't even bathe in our local Bay, a five minute walk only.
Yes, I have absolutely thousands of photos of ever occasion. But then that's me, the memory keeper. We love Surfers!

Davide Castel

I have thousands of photos of my pets over the years and of the Saxonburg Hunt foxhounds from since 2010!
I don't know how to swim, will never ever ever go into water other than creeks when out with the dogs and only if wearing gumboots!

Warren Gates

All of your photos are very nice! You all look so peaceful. Now if we could only get Asma to show us what she looks like and not take it down!

On the swimming subject, I love to swim but haven't done it for 2 years. I took swimming lessons even after I knew how to swim, it was all part of a school trip. Last year, my goal was to swim as much as I could before my surgery and I never went. This year I don't have excuses!

I will mail you my picture. You can frame it. :)

Asma Ahsan

Sounds like a plan! I have a lot of space on my walls to hang something up.

Daniela Bustamante

9th May 2013

One for me too Asma.

When we write some factual event, or partly factual, I think that the story/poem is strengthened with a photo imagery. But then that is ME!
I love picture story books, and I don't mean comics!

Davide Castel

10th May 2013

Here's a better idea. Both you and Daniela come to meet me. We will have tea, or i can cook for you, and then we take a group photo of the three of us in it and keep each copy as a momento. :)

Asma Ahsan

10th May 2013

Sounds great....Now let me see when I have some time...hmmmm...maybe sometime before I die?

Davide Castel

10th May 2013

Lol! That sounds awesome but I also don't have time or money. Ha! Maybe in 50 years

Daniela Bustamante

10th May 2013

I know you both will never come to visit me. So don't be cruel. :) it's no good to make fun of someone who genuinely invites you over for a cup of tea. Noting wrong with three sisters enjoying some girl time. Is there? I respect you both. That was a genuine invitation.

I have already shown you my picture. I am nothing special. I am an overweight pakistani, dark colored mother of three. So you can imagine what I look like in case you missed my photo. :)

I put my picture a couple of times but you two just missed it. That's all. Read my work. I am writing stories here and poems. Read those as i am here to write basically. It doesn't matter what I look like. After all, this is not a dating site.

:)
