Came to me on the way home from school on the bus

Betrayal is a thing with a tall black hat
Who stalks behind you, right behind you, quiet as a cat
It's breath is cold, wispy and thick like smoke
Eyes burning, stomach churning, threatening to choke
It's long thin fingers dance up your back
Turn around and meet it's eyes so dead and black
Creeping quiet betrayal is always lurking there
Piercing into your heart with its cold unfeeling stare
You can try to outrun it, but it knows where you are
It'll burrow deep inside your walls and stick to you like tar
It searches all your hopes and dreams, all that you hold dear
It points a finger at those you love, ingraining a crippling fear
Betrayal is an ugly thing with a tall black hat
Who stalks behind you, right behind you, quiet as a cat
