soul mates

The crowds gather round me
Like puppies at play,
Using laughter and company
To run through the day.

The words they all shouted
Accented and strong
Are enough for me to question
Where I truly belong. 1 comment

I understand nothing
And stand locked in the cage
Of their arms as I feel now
So lost and afraid.

I feel like screaming
But no-one will hear.
So I endure as always
And let the loneliness sear.

Like threads of hot embers
Weaving around my broken soul.
Now alight and burning,
My body but lolls.

I feel nothing but loneliness
And I need someone now.
Someone who can love me
And turn things around. 1 comment

The fire is burning
But a gust soon falls down.
Black storms fall in around me
And my fire burns out.
